Prosecutors in Botosani opened an investigation in connection with suspicious death, in January, a woman admitted to the center for people with disabilities in Dorohoi where more were found to the irregularity, but also indications regarding other offenses following the investigators, reports News.ro

The representatives of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Botosani Court announced that the prosecutors were notified that there are suspicions about the death, in January, of a woman admitted to the Care and Assistance for Adults with “Elena House” in Dorohoi. They opened a criminal case for murder, and in the investigations they ordered and carried out the corpse exhumation and did a search at the center.

“Following the search carried out, the indications were discovered regarding other offenses in relation to the activity of the Center” Casa Elena “, but also with a control activity carried out there, at the beginning of April 2025, by the County Agency for Payments and Social Assistance Botosani,” the prosecutors said.

They added that a criminal case for tax evasion was opened-because more beneficiaries were identified than the maximum number of persons for whom the center is authorized, and the income made were not highlighted in the accounting documents, abuse in the service-because certain institutions were notified regarding the death in the center of a person with disabilities, because the representatives did not record in the process. Irregularities found by ANPC

According to ANPC, on Tuesday, a notification was made, following a notification, at the Care and Assistance Center for Adults with disabilities “Casa Elena” in the municipality of Dorohoi, owned by the Association “Give Hope of Life”.

“The maximum capacity of accommodation of the unit is 25 persons, 35 beneficiaries have been identified in the authorized space. In unauthorized attachments from the perimeter of the center, 37 persons have been found under improper conditions. For the persons accommodated in the unauthorized space will be announced immediately to the owners to take over and in the situation, Dorohoi and the UATs on the radius of which the beneficiaries have their domicile.

The economic operator was sanctioned with 4 fines worth 45,000 lei. The unit has a valid operating license.
