About 900,000 websites are currently active in Poland, and among all registered internet domains only every third actually presents content on the web – according to a unique study prepared by the company Nazwa.pl, regarding the number of active websites in Poland.
According to the company, this is the largest research of this type in the country. Almost all internet domains registered by Poles were analyzed, both in national and global registers.
According to the report, it works in Poland About 900,000 websites. Although the number of Poles is about 37.5 million, and according to CSO data, the number of active enterprises reached 2.8 million, the domains registered the domains Only about 1.2 million unique subscribers. According to the NASK report, at the end of 2024 in the register the number of registered domains was 2.59 million. The number of all subscribers is about 1.2 million, of which there are about 800,000 business subscribers, and about 400,000 private individuals – reports the report.
Registering the domain is a basic step to be able to publish content on the Internet. Thanks to this, you can secure the unique address at which the website will later operate. Having your own domain increases a professional image and ensures stability – as opposed to social platforms such as Facebook, where the content can be removed without warning.
After registration, the domain can be used to launch a website or service e-mail, but it can also be simply secured for the future. Some entities record domains only for speculative purposes, to later sell them with profit. As the authors of the report indicate, this is a serious problem – speculators buy attractive addresses, blocking their use and demanding for them inflated prices, reaching even hundreds of thousands of zlotys. In response to this, many companies secure their brand, registering it in all popular extensions, even if they use only one. Additional domains are usually redirected to the company's main address.
Data on the number of domains constitute very imprecise information about the number of addresses for publishing websites. Only the analysis of entries in DNS, SSL certificates protecting domains, and above all the content located after entering each domain in the web browser, allows you to determine how a given address is used.
Using the years of experience in creating TOP100.WebhostingTalk.pl and Test2Speed.com, Nazwa.pl, which is part of the Netart Group, conducted the largest study in Poland, as a result of which this report was created. A report that shows how much potential lies in the fifth most populous European Union country in the field of digitization and active use of the Internet by companies and private individuals.
