“Today, in fact, all day in our country is air alarm. At night there was again a blow of Russian missiles and drones. Ballistics, more than 140 drones per night. It was loud in Kyiv, in our other cities. Unfortunately, there are wounded. Unfortunately, there are dead. […] Each mobile firing group, all calculations of drone drones, each air defense unit, our combat aircraft-I thank you for the effective duty, ”Zelensky said.
He noted that the Ukrainian authorities are working to strengthen air defense.
“Working with partners continues so that we can not only receive new air defense systems and missiles for them, but also to be able to localize the production of systems and missiles we need in Ukraine. This is one of the strategic decisions that are needed,” the president emphasized.
According to him, the protection of the sky of Ukraine is one of the foundations of future security architecture in general for security in Europe.
“It is quite true that the Russian sky, the sky of the aggressor, today is mirroring the troubled one. Ukraine and our proposal to stop the blows, stop the fire for at least 30 days remains in force – we do not remove this offer that can give a chance of diplomacy. But it is from Russia that the world does not see an answer – no answer except new blows. It is most clearly demonstrating to everyone who demonstrates the source of the war,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that “Russia must end its aggression, and they will have to do this,” because it is a “time of time.”
“War is a loss for everyone, in particular for the aggressor. The sanctions against Russia will increase for this war, and these are tangible sanctions. The justice of the world will also work – unfortunately, slowly, but, importantly, inevitably. And we prepare news on this subject, we accelerate justice,” Zelensky announced.
Context
On May 7, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that over the past day, Russian air defense allegedly knocked 524 Ukrainian drones, five Neptune missiles, shells from the Himars and six JDAM MLRS missiles in the Russian Federation.
Sources of the Gordon publication in the Ukrainian Security Service reported that, in particular, the SBU drones successfully attacked the Bazalt plant today (in the Krasnoarmeysk of the Moscow Region), which is weapons and ammunition for Russian invaders, as well as the alloy plant (in Tula), where cartridges and reactive systems of salvo fire are being developed.
Due to the movement of Ukrainian drones, the Russians are forced to introduce a “carpet” plan, which provides for the closure of airports, and the abolition of hundreds of flights entailed a transport collapse to the Russian Federation.
In the Russian Federation, two days in a row, on May 6 and 7, airports were massively closed due to the attack of drones. In the Federal Air Transport Agency, this is explained by the need to “guarantee the safety of civilian aircraft flights.” For example, on the night of May 6, 13 airports of the Russian Federation stopped work, and it was a record, the media wrote.
On May 7, reports that airports in different regions of Russia stopped work appeared throughout the day. The flights were detained both at the Moscow Airports “Sheremetyevo”, “Vnukovo”, “Domodedovo”, “Zhukovsky”, and in Kazan, St. Petersburg, Nizhnekamsk, Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Kaluga, etc.
