Karsten Wildberger, the Minister of Digitization in the Berlin Federal Government, worked in the past in Vodafone Romania. He will have the mission to modernize the German economy in a digital world, a mission that has often registered too slow progress in a country still known for the use of faxes and cash transactions, according to Reuters.
The Karsten Wildberger's CV on the German government's website states that the new Minister of State Digitization and Modernization was between 2006 and 2011 a member of the Vodafone board in Romania and the United Kingdom.
The Profit publication wrote that Wildberger was financial director and commercial director on the segment for natural persons of Vodafone Romania, and Ziarul Financiar presented him as the “number two” of the mobile telephony compassion.
After leaving Vodafone, Wildberger has also held various important functions-general manager of Telstra, the largest telecommunications group and media in Australia, between 2012 and 2016, member of the E.ON board, between 2016 and 2021 and the CEO of Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH and Chair of the Board and Labour and Labour Director of Ceconomy AG, between 2021 and between 2021 2025.
The role in the new government
What does a man in the business world do?
Merz has decided to appoint close and directors of companies in the government to address the country's economic problems, against the background of commercial tensions and an extremely increasing right.
Social-democrats, coalition partners, have nominated more conventional career politicians.
According to Reuters, Wildberger will have the mission to modernize the German economy in a digital world, a task that has often registered only slow progress in a country still known for the use of cash fax and transactions.
“We believe that it is ideally equipped, both personal and professional, to meet the high expectations associated with this special function,” said Wolfgang Steiger from the CDU Economic Council.
Wildberger's appointment was a surprise
The appointment of Wildberger was surprising, because he has no political experience, although, as president of MediamarktsSturn Group, he has run an enterprise that includes 1,000 consumer electronics stores, writes Euronews.
He emphasized the important role of his portfolio.
“I am honored by the confidence that Friedrich Merz also gave me the opportunity to become the new minister for digital business. Digitization and technology have been defining themes throughout my career, and the new ministry will play a decisive role in modernizing our country,” Wildberger said in a statement published by Ceconomy.
