Megafon accelerated mobile Internet by the summer season and improved communication quality in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

Before the May holidays, MegaFon completed a large -scale preparation of the network for the summer season. The operator engineers modernized infrastructure in summer and tourist locations at once 36 regions of Russia.

Due to this, the data transfer rate increased by an average of 20 %. Now residents and tourists will be able to use a reliable voice signal and high -speed Internet even in the most distant places in the country.

The work was affected by more than 1.5 thousand basic stations that provide a connection with hundreds of SNT across the country. In addition to country locations, experts improved the current and built a new telecom equipment in tourist locations: at the recreation center near the Ruskeala mountain park and on the banks of the Volga in Konakovo, on the Listvyanka embankment on Lake Baikal, the Cheget highway in the Elbrus, the Curonian Spit in the Kaliningrad Region and the Bugaz spit in the Bugaz. Krasnodar Territory. In addition, modernized stations are already working in Vladivostok, Novorossiysk, Makhachkala, Sochi, Anapa and other large tourist clusters.

In Siberia, by the beginning of the summer season, an “upgrade” of base stations in places of both suburban and resort recreation was held. For example, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which takes the fifth place in the country in terms of the number of cottages, new communication facilities provided confident coverage of the LTE network in 100 garden partnerships of the Emelyanovsky district and Zheleznogorsk, 7 settlements of the Sukhobuzimsky district.

Also in the region, a large -scale reference program is completed, which affected not only Krasnoyarsk, but also other cities of the region. As a result of the integrated preparation of the network for the summer season, the speed of mobile Internet in the Uzhursky district increased by 82 %, by the Sukhobuzimsky district – by 77 %, by a third – in the Kezhesk district and Sosnovoborsk, and in the Emelyanovsky district the increase amounted to 22 %.

This was achieved not only through the construction of new base stations. To increase the network throughput, engineers paved fiber -fiber lines, conducted refarding (“transferred” the previous generations of networks to LTE and LTE Advanced) and integrated MIMO technology that transmitted data on parallel communication channels.

In addition, the signalmen expanded the range of ranges at the base stations and divided the coverage zones into sectors – this made it possible to increase the capacity of the network both in densely populated cities and on remote viewing platforms of national parks.

“In the summer, mobile traffic traditionally migrates: residents of megacities are traveling outside the city, and tourist zones gather vacationers around themselves from all over the country. In preparing equipment for the warm season, we took into account all the features of locations and used reliable technical solutions that allowed us to increase the speed of mobile Internet even in high loading conditions so that subscribers can remain in touch and use the usual services at any place of rest, ”said Aleksey Titov, Technical Director of MegaFon.
