On the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Kion online cinema from the ecosystem of MTS prepared for the Krasnoyarski a selection of modern Russian films about the war.
“Nineyatev” (2021, 12+). The captive Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyataev is confronted with a choice: to fight on the side of the Nazis or die in a concentration camp. The hero goes in his own way and prepares the air racing. This is a real story and joint work of Timur Bekmambetov and Sergey Trofimov – a dynamic, almost fantastic action movie, reminiscent of a video game in order. “Ninths” exists in the form of a two-hour full-length film and a specially mounted Kion web series for viewing in vertical mode on a smartphone.
“Kalashnikov” (2020, 12+). The biographical drama of the director Konstantin Buslov about Kalashnikov, the creator of the most famous machine gun in the world. The soldier Mikhail Kalashnikov miraculously survives in a terrible battle and, not having time to recover from the wound, already asks the rear: how to improve that imperfect small arms that was at that time in the arsenal of the Soviet Army. The search for engineering solutions will be delayed for years, and not least due to the fact that no one really believes in a self-taught locksmith from Altai except a beloved woman. “Kalashnikov” with Yura Borisov in the title role is arranged as a cross between the Soviet production drama and the Hollywood Bayopics about the “history of one success”.
“First Oscar” (2022, 18+). The film by Sergey Mokritsky is inspired by the history of the creation of the documentary film “The Destroy of the German Troops near Moscow”, which received the first Oscar in the history of the USSR in 1943. The heroes of the picture are young front -line operators sent to the front line to remove documentary personnel. Ethical and physical trials stand in front of them: how not to lose human in inhuman conditions and what is more important – to survive yourself or to capture the truth? The first Oscar is a story about cinema inside the war, about young enthusiasts who fought not with weapons, but with a camera in their hands. The film affects the theme of memory and how it is formed through the lens.
“T-34” (2018, 12+). The crew of the tank is captured. Now they are the prisoners of a concentration camp, to escape from which will be able to escape on the Germans taken by the Germans as a trophy by the latest Soviet tank. The military film shot by the director of the Brigades is remembered by the action scenes of the tank battle. The T-34 enjoyed great success not only in Russian, but also, for example, the Japanese rental, and among its fans was the famous game designer Hideo Kojima.
“Brest Fortress” (2010, 16+). The epic drama about the first days of the Great Patriotic War and the heroic defense of the Brest fortress, which became one of the symbols of Soviet resistance. The film shows several lines of defense, and the narrative is conducted on behalf of Sasha Akimov, a teenager who witnessed and participant in the events. For many years, the military drama of Alexander Cotta became the standard of modern Russian military-patriotic cinema-an unspoken canon (or, in other words, a reference) of how to be written, played, voiced and presented to the viewer a film about the Great Patriotic War.
“28 Panfilovtsev” (2016, 12+). One of the most discussed paintings about the Great Patriotic War of recent years. Filmed mainly with folk money, the film of the directorial duet Kim Druzhinin and Andrei Schalopa reconstructs the legendary battle at the Dubosekovo road, where 28 fighters of the rifle division under the command of General Panfilov stopped the column of German tanks. Despite the historical disputes about the reality of this episode, the film relies on a myth as a forming element of national identity. Inspired by Soviet monuments to the heroes of the war, the picture transferred this monumentality to the cinema, also preserving continuity in relation to the Soviet tradition of military cinema.
