Paul Mursa, the liberal mayor of Plugari commune in Iași county, said that PNL “needs a deep reset” at national level and asked for the “Block resignation of the National Political Bureau”.

In a Facebook post, Monday, Paul Mursa said that Plugari is “the only liberal commune in Iași county” in which the candidate of the ruling coalition, Crin Antonescu, was ranked.

“At the national level, it is clear to everyone: PNL needs a deep reset. We are waiting for the resignation of the National Political Bureau. Those who have taken the party in the wrong direction and not to see them in the front lines. To leave the place of those who can reconstruct with seriousness and respect for the Liberal values. Paul Mrsa.

He claimed that PNL was led “on a natural person” and that the party mayors were not consulted when the decisions regarding the candidates of Crin Antonescu and Nicolae Ciuca were taken.

“I, with the help of my community, will probably take a mandate. I hope to be healthy! But you, if you still run the natural person, do not even catch the electoral threshold. It was common sense that when the decisions regarding the candidates of Crin Antonescu and Nicolae Ciucă, the mayors of the party, were to be consulted.”

Paul Mrsa also declared that “the wrong idea went on that if PNL has over a thousand mayors, any candidate imposed from the center will be removed president, because the mayors will put their image”, and “the reality has shown the opposite”.

“And more question: if 98% of the chosen mayors in Romania could not take Crin Antonescu in the second round, with the whole party's apparatus, how could President Nicușor Dan, an independent candidate, without a party and without a local structure? Romanians want something else. The message was clear.
