Reorganization in the public trasport in the capital: two new tram lines will be set up, another two will be abolished

Public transport in the area of ​​Basarabia and Chisinau Boulevards in Bucharest will be reorganized, as a result of the rehabilitation works on the tram rolling path from the intersection of the two arteries, announces the Association of Inter -Community Development for Public Transport Bucharest (TPBI). Thus, two new tram lines will be set up, and two others will be suspended.

Starting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, two new tram lines will be introduced – 4 and 49 – which will provide direct links between Basarabia Boulevard and Sfânta Square, respectively Theodor Pallady. At the same time the lines 14 and 640 will be suspended and the line 40 It will have a modified route, according to a press release published by TPBI.

Detailed changes in routes

Trams line 4 They will circulate between the station “Nicolae Grigorescu Boulevard” and “Sf. Friday”, on the route: Bd. Nicolae Grigorescu – Bd. Basarabia – Chisinau – Şos. Pantelimon – Ferdinand I – Str. Traian – Calea Călăraşilor – Bd. Corneliu Coposu – Str. St. Friday, with return to Str. St. Friday, BD Corneliu Coposu, Calea Călărașilor, BD Basarabia, “Nicolae Grigorescu Boulevard”.

Trams line 40 They will circulate between “Bd. Basarabia” and “Sf. Friday”, traveling on the route: Bd. Basarabia – Calea Călăraşilor – Corneliu Coposu Boulevard – Str. St. Friday, and on return on Str. St. Friday, BD Corneliu Coposu, Calea Călărașilor, Str. Traian, BD Ferdinand I, Șos.Pantelimon, Bd. Chisinau, “Bd. Basarabia” station.

Trams line 49 The terminal “Bd. Theodor Pallady” and the “Bd. Basarabia” station will run on the route: Terminal “Bd. Theodor Pallady”, bd.theodor Pallady, Bd. 1 December 1918, “Bd. Bessarabia” station.

Other useful information for travelers

buses line 637 They will continue to ensure the connection between “M Republic” and Chisinau Boulevard, and line 102 it will travel normally in both directions on Bessarabia Boulevard.

The Association of Inter -Community Development for Public Transport Bucharest – Ilfov (TPBI) recommends travelers to consult the new routes before starting on the road and taking into account any duration of the trip.
