The independent candidate Nicușor Dan gave Monday assurances that he will not support a possible nomination, again, of the PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu, for the position of prime minister, if the mayor will become president. “I can guarantee you that this prime minister will not be Marcel Ciolacu. No! I can guarantee you from this second,” said Nicușor Dan, in a show on B1 TV.
The mayor of the capital was asked if he would refuse any alliance with Marcel Ciolacu or the people close to the PSD leader.
“First of all, things, here things have been simplified. But because we will have a discussion, the question was asked how the president can take off Marcel Ciolacu. This discussion no longer exists. The president will have to appoint a prime minister. I can guarantee that this prime minister will not be Marcel Ciolacu. in the state.
What did Nicușor Dan say:
- “Further, of course, it is a discussion that we have to have with the prooccidental parties, because my firm commitment is the prooccidental direction, but obviously this designated prime minister will not be Marcel Ciolacu.
- I want to discuss much less than what will happen after May 18 and more than May 18.
- At the moment, the president has a great book in his hand, the appointment of the prime minister and through this book, a great gesture, can impose the direction in which the government will go from now.“
Previously during the day of Monday, Nicușor Dan, who entered the second round of the presidential elections in the second position, said, in a press conference, that he “set the era” in which the electorate was considered “bags of votes of parties”.
“An era has set out in which some political parties considered the electorate with votes that they moved from one side to the other. A political debate will follow and I am very optimistic that the Romanian society has the wisdom resources to go in the correct direction,” said the mayor, at his campaign headquarters.

Asked if he communicated with the leaders of the Coalition, the candidates he had or with the interim president, Ilie Bolojan, Nicușor Dan replied: “I discussed with more people. It is normal to discuss when you are in politics, but all the discussions were preliminary and in a privacy regime.”
“It is important that the discussion in these two weeks focus on the essential issues, the essential differences of vision and, as I said, people who, unlike the vast majority of politicians, have gained their confidence in society,” Nicușor Dan insisted on his conference.
Also, the resignation of Marcel Ciolacu from the head of the government and the exit of the PSD from the ruling coalition are perceived, at this moment, by Nicușor Dan as “a secondary element compared to the choice that the Romanians have to make on May 18”.
He pointed out that only after May 19 “we must discuss the government.”
Nicușor Dan obtained, at the first round of the presidential elections, held on Sunday, with 1,979,767 votes (20.99%), according to the data published by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), after counting all verbal processes.
Dan outclassed Crin Antonescu, the candidate of the ruling coalition, who obtained 1,892,930 votes (20.07%), and Victor Ponta (independent candidate), who met 1,230,164 votes (13.04%).
George Simion, the golden candidate, obtained the most votes – 3,862,761 (40.96%) in the first round.
So far, PNL, USR and UDMR have announced that in the second round of presidentials will support the mayor of the capital.
Instead, the PSD has decided not to publicly support any of the candidates who will face the presidential final, Marcel Ciolacu announced on Monday night, during statements announcing his resignation from the government.

“I made the decision not to publicly support one of the candidates. Each sympathizer will vote as he wants, according to his own consciousness, something that seems correct to me,” said Ciolacu at the end of the PSD National Council meeting.
