The police reported that the attack during the concert was planned by a group that disseminated hate speech against LGBT on the Internet. Participants of this group tried to radicalize juvenile Internet users and draw them into a plan to carry out attacks using Molotov cocktails and homemade explosives.

“The plan was interpreted as a collective + Challenge + (task proposed to Internet users -PAP) with a purpose of gaining fame in social media,” the police said.

The alleged leader of the group was detained in Rio Grande to Sul, in the south of Brazil. He was charged with illegal possession of weapons. The second detained person is a teenager; The allegations of him concern child pornography. The police appeared in the homes of 15 people in several Brazil states, confiscating mobile phones J other electronic devices.

The Ministry of Justice reported on its part that the members of the group impersonated the fans of Lady Gaga, called “monsters” to reach minors and draw them into internet groups promoting violence and self -destruction.

Representatives of Lady Gaga and concert organizers did not comment on these reports.

The free concert at Copacabana beach took place on Saturday evening. 3,300 soldiers, 1,500 policemen and 400 firefighters supervised the safety of participants. Cameras recognizing faces and drones were also used. The authorities of Rio de Janeiro announced that the concert attracted over 2 million people. Such events organized in May should – in the opinion of the authorities – contribute to the revival of tourism outside the main season. (PAP)
