An atlasintel survey conducted for Hotnews before the first tour of the presidential elections on Sunday, May 4, shows George Simion first. The next two ranked are very close to each other.

According to the survey, Simion is credited with 30.2% of the total number of those who responded to the questionnaire.

The common candidate of the PNL-PSD-UDMR Alliance, Crin Antonescu, would be voted by 24.3% of the voters, and Nicușor Dan, 22.4%

In the fourth place Victor Ponta is included, with 11.3%, and on five, Elena Lasconi, with 6.3%.

The Atlasintel survey was conducted on a sample of 3,247 respondents, between April 28 – May 1, 2025. The method used was the one of random digital recruitment, having as the universe in Romania.

The survey has an error margin of ± 2 %, at a 95 %confidence level.

“A calibrated sample on an electorate will probably present inherently a lower percentage of undecided voters than a calibrated sample throughout the entire adult populationT ”, explains the founder of Atlasintel, Andrei Roman, according to Hotnews.

The survey also covers the period of the three television presidential debates.

The Atlasintel Institute is headed by the Romanian sociologist Andrei Roman.

What do other polls say

We recall that the last Sociopol poll (institute led by Mirel Palada, a former spokesman in the Ponta government) shows that George Simion and Victor Ponta lead the race for the supreme function, and Crin Antonescu ranks third, on a draw with Nicușor Dan.

Another survey conducted by the NGO “NEW, Citizens”, conducted after this week's electoral debates, which also includes the Diaspora opinions, also indicates George Simion Favorite to qualify in the second round, followed by Nicușor Dan (2nd place), and 6 percent, by Crin Antonescu.
