Over PLN 304 million was spent on the organization and conduct of the presidential election in 2020, with this amount also included preparations for correspondence elections, which ultimately did not occur. In 2015, the cost of election amounted to over PLN 174 million.

In an interview with PAP, the head of the National Electoral Office, Rafał Tkacz, announced that the preliminary estimated presidential election of this year is PLN 550 million. When asked about the reasons for such an increase in relation to the amount from five years ago, the weaver pointed primarily to the increase in the diets of members of the election committees.

“When we had problems with completing the regional warehouses of electoral commissions, they were clearly lower. Currently, a diet of PLN 700 is provided for the chairman of the committee, for a deputy – PLN 600, and for a serial member – PLN 500. In the case of the second round we are talking about 3/4 of these amounts. Finally interest in its performance, “he explained.

The head of the KBW announced that the printing of electoral cards itself is a small part of the whole amount, over PLN 6 million. He emphasized that, according to the resolution of the National Electoral Commission, there are always as many of them as voters entitled to vote, although they are not divided into 100 percent. between committees. “We have municipal reserves, of which – if necessary – we can deliver these cards to premises, for which local governments are responsible for. The point is to avoid situations such as the one in Wroclaw Jagoda, where these cards were supposedly missing for some time,” he said.

“We are currently conducting pre -election reports, which show where the demand for cards increases. In some places we verified earlier estimates, increasing their condition – these are, for example, resorts, which we know that voters can arrive in crowds. When it comes to surplus cards, of course they are destroyed after the election” – added the head of KBW.

The presidential election will take place on May 18, and their possible second round – June 1.
