Hany Farid, professor at the University of California, Berkeley, an expert in image analysis and misinformation analyzed for Euronews the images published by Elena Lasconi, which appear Nicușor Dan, Victor Ponta and Florian Coldea.

“We analyzed these photos using models trained to distinguish the real images from those generated by AI (artificial intelligence). These models have not found any evidence of generation. In addition, we analyzed the specific geometric attributes of the image and all are in accordance with the authentic photos. I also observe coherence at the building and fence.

The only inconsistency I see is related to one of the pictures. This is more desaturated (almost gray) than the others. There are plausible explanations for why this could have happened, but it raises a small question mark.

In general, I find no convincing evidence that these images are generated or manipulated by AI. More importantly, I do not know when or where these photos were taken ”said Hany Farid.

On Friday, May 2, Lasconi explained his decision to publish the photos in which he suggests that Nicușor Dan and Victor Ponta met with former SRI chief Florian Coldea.

Than to hide the truth, I better lose. I am now confessing why I made the decision to publish the photos. The truth is more important to me than anything than any function. Even than the position of president of Romania.

This is why I asked for explanations for these photos. We all need to know what backstage games are made on our behalf. For 35 years, they have orchestrated the games, they have decided who to be in power or it turned out that we have been terribly confused since last year. There have been many pro arguments and many arguments against publication. It was not a momentary decision ”, says Elena Lasconi.

The Bucharest Bulletin discovered the building in a residential neighborhood in Tunari commune, Ilfov county, being available for rent on online platforms of Airbnb and Booking.
