We are working on making specialized arms production in Racibórz – Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday during a visit to Huta Częstochowa. He assured that Rafako would be a plant producing “profitable things”.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk decided on Tuesday to transfer over PLN 700 million to the Industrial Development Agency for help, among others for Rafako and Rafamet. “This money will help (…), including two Racibórz companies. Of course, Rafako and it is about new production launch. We will define what is possible. (…) On the other hand, we will assure you through the industry development agency” – said the head of government. He added that the second company that will receive support is a rafamet, and aid should enable him not only survival but also development.
The head of government two weeks ago announced that although the continuation of Rafako's current activity is impossible, nothing prevents you where boilers were once produced, now launch arms production.
On Wednesday in Huta Częstochowa, the Prime Minister met with the management board and trade unionists. During the press conference, he was asked if the synergy of the production of Huta Częstochowa with Rafako production was possible. “I do not want to throw words on the wind. I was in Rafako, it has passed some time; and then I was counting on much better synergy and cooperation, especially at the ownership level. And I do not hide disappointment” – he assessed.
In his opinion, it must be a “map of synergy covering the whole country.” “If we know that the Śląskie Voivodeship are dozens, if not hundreds of potential places well prepared for production, (…) it is this space to build this synergy, perhaps also in the near future between the Huta Częstochowa and Rafako, (…) will be ready” – he emphasized.
Donald Tusk also assured that Rafako “will be a plant that will produce and produce profitable things.” “We work – I do not hide – to place in Racibórz, maybe just where the boilers were produced, more specialized arms production. We are working on several variants,” said the prime minister. “If we are ready with a specific project, we will present the details of this project in Racibórz,” he declared.
“So if we decided to spend a lot of money to maintain Rafako, then believe me, with good ideas to launch this production in the future. But today we go through the time in which we must save this place on the map of Racibórz and Poland, and we will do it” – summed up the prime minister.
The management of Rafako filed for bankruptcy in September 2024 indicated the inability to agree with the key creditors of detailed rules for the conversion of the Company's obligations to shares in an increased share capital or an alternative scenario of further restructuring of the company's obligations that would allow you to reduce the debt. This, according to Rafako, could allow the company to regain the ability to obtain external financing for future orders.
In March this year The Ministry of State Asset has transferred PAP that it is looking for solutions for Rafako so that the company could continue to operate. The ministry added that ARP participates in talks with a potential investor regarding the takeover of the company and creating a model of its financing.
The Rafako Group is the general contractor for energy blocks and a leading boiler manufacturer in Europe. Designs and produces boilers, among others on supercritical and fluidal parameters, as well as environmental protection devices, such as flue gas desulphurization and unit installations, as well as installations for thermal waste utilization and biomass combustion. The company provides services in the field of industrial construction and implementation of projects from the oil and gas industry. (PAP)
