When the vote begins in the diaspora in the presidential elections 2025. Romanians from abroad have 3 days to vote

The presidential elections in May will take place after a different program than the one so far. Voters from abroad will still have 3 days to vote, but the ballot boxes will close at the same time in all countries, regardless of local time.

GEO no. 1/2025 establishes the measures of organization and conduct of the elections in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and changes the program of the elections.

In the presidential race of May, 11 candidates were registered, the first round of the elections to take place on May 4 (2, 3 and 4 May 2025, in the case of the polling stations abroad), and the second on 18 (16, 17 and 18 2025, in the case of polling stations from abroad).

Tour I program

Thus, in the first round, organized in Romania on May 4, the vote abroad will take place on 3 days and start on May 2:

– The first day of voting abroad will be May 2, 2025, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time).

– The second day of voting in the diaspora will be May 3, 2025, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time).

– The third day of voting abroad will be on May 4, 2025, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time), but not later than local time of Romania 21.00.

Tour II program

– The first day of voting abroad will be May 16, 2025, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time).

– The second day of voting in the diaspora will be May 17, 2025, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time).

– The third day of voting abroad will be on May 18, 2025, between 7:00 – 21:00 (local time), but not later than local time of Romania 21.00.

The candidates enrolled in the electoral race for the election of the president will be found in the following order on the ballots:
