During his speech at the University of Vaasa, the President of Finland was skeptical about the Monday declaration of the Russian leader of temporary suspension of hostilities for 72 hours on May 8-10, i.e. at the time of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II (May 8), and in Russia of the State Day of the Day of Victory (May 9), commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany.
The Finnish leader emphasized that the US proposed a permanent suspension of weapons, which Ukraine accepted and which Europe supports, but Russia did not agree. – This is the traditional tactic of Russians, games on time – he emphasized. He reminded that Russia in the past had broken the provisions of suspension of weapons many times.
President Stubb is a supporter of immediate and unconditional suspension of hostilities for a period of 90 days. “I also tried to pass on to US President Donald Trump,” he admitted. In his opinion, “Trump's patience towards Russia ends.”
Stubb repeated that Finland would “do not recognize” the annexation of Russia occupied by Russia and emphasized that it is necessary to constantly “exert pressure” to Russia.
