The candidate of the Party of the National Action League (Plan) in the presidential elections, Silviu Predoiu, said on Tuesday evening, in the debate organized at the Cotroceni Palace by TVR, that they would be against bringing tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of Romania, pointing out that they would turn us into an additional target.
He was asked what would do as president in the scenario in which the Americans would like to bring tactical nuclear bombs to the base in Mihail Kogălniceanu, writes Agerpres.
“My position would be withheld. The decision should be taken in the CSAT, but my position in the CSAT, where the president has a single vote, which is equal to any other member, would be against it. It seems to me that this is not the way to ensure our stability and safety,” said Silviu Predoiu.
“What would the nuclear weapons help us at this time? It would turn us into an additional target. I don't think it would be security guarantee. The security guarantee is the armed forces of Romania,” Predoiu said.
