Energy prices will not rise. The president signed the law

The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland informed about the signing of the law.
President Andrzej Duda signed the amendment of the Act on special solutions to protect electricity consumers in 2023 and in 2024 in connection with the situation on the electricity market, which this week was adopted by both chambers of parliament.
The aim of the new regulations is to allow you to reduce electricity prices after the maximum price expires. According to current regulations, by the end of September 2025, households may benefit from electricity prices, frozen at the level of PLN 500 per MWh.
The amendment assumes the shift of the beginning of the changed tariffs to electricity to October 1 this year. The current provisions assume that sellers ex officio are to submit applications to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office to change the tariffs by April 30, and they would enter into force from July 1. The amendment to the act will give them time to submit tariff applications by July 31.
While working on the Act in the Sejm and Senate Deputy Minister of the Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyk noticed that already energy prices on the wholesale market are at the level below the freezing price. Therefore, the delay in the entry into force of new tariffs is to allow energy companies better “discount“Discounts that are on the market, which in turn is to translate into lower prices for households.
“In the practice of the recipients, the changes in tariffs will notice in the fourth quarter after the maximum price expires and therefore the level of reduction in tariffs (…) The market situation indicates a downward trend” – pointed out Miłosz Motyk.
The deputy minister also pointed out that how prices in the tariffs will be influenced by whether the cover mechanisms will be extended.
“The price level after the recalculation of tariffs approved by the President of the Energy” – announced a representative of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The amendment will enter into force on the day after the day of announcement.
