Donald Trump told the media that he discussed the issue of Crimea during a 15-minute meeting with Zelanski in the Vatican, where both leaders went to take part in the funeral of Pope Francis. Trump said that Zełnski became “calmer” And he is now more interested in achieving a peace agreement.
A week earlier, the Ukrainian leader excluded Crimea's recognition as Russian as part of a peace agreement offered by the United States. – This is contrary to our constitution. This is our territory, the territory of the Ukrainian nation – said Zelanski at the time. The statement was made before talks regarding the resolution of the conflict between the USA, the EU, Great Britain and Ukraine in London. At the same time, Ukraine will resign from aspiration to NATO membership, but will be able to count on membership in the EU. In addition, Kyiv will have to receive financial compensation for the reconstruction of the country.
