The main challenges of Ukrainian metallurgy are the State Monopolis tariffs, scrap shortage and lack of staff – Metinvest.
The operating director of the company Oleksandr Mironenko reminded that the cost of electricity transmission in Ukraine since 2021 has increased 2.3 times, the tariff for gas transportation is four times, and rail tariffs-1.7-2.4 times. And it is because of the high cost of energy and logistics that is still in the simple Ingulets GOK.
“State monopolies simply translate their financial problems into non -home consumers. You need to view this policy and look for common ground with state monopolies. We are currently a dialogue with Ukrzaliznytsia, which plans to raise rail tariffs by 37%, because in the case of adoption it will destroy the national manufacturer, ”he said.
In addition, Ukraine loses scrap metal, which is the main raw material for metallurgists: its export has grown up to the session. It is economically unprofitable for the state, because 1 ton of scrap, transformed into steel, brings us an additional $ 1.2 thousand currency revenue and 15 thousand UAH of taxes.
The third big problem is the scarcity of personnel: now it is 10-15% of the total number of staff. “Metinvest employes people officially, but they often become a resource for the shopping center, and they are immediately taken to the army. This scares people from working at our enterprises. We are now having a dialogue with the Ministry of Defense to find a compromise, ”Mironenko said.
