The husband of the Minister of Labor, reconfirmed in the management of the Agency for Equal Opportunities. The institution operates in the subordination of Simona Bucura-Orescu

Mihail-Adrian Oprescu, the husband of the Minister of Labor, Simona Bucura-Orescu, was reconfirmed, for a period of six months, as Secretary General of the National Agency for Equal Opportunities (ANSE), an institution that works under the Ministry of Labor.
The decision signed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu was published in the Official Gazette.
“Starting with April 29, 2025, Mr. Mihail-Adrian Oprescu, deputy general state inspector within the Labor Inspection, exercises, with temporary character, by detachment, the vacant public function of the category of senior civil servants of the General Secretary of the National Agency for Equal Chances between women and men for a period of 6 months,” the unique article provides.
Repeated appointments in the same post
Mihail-Adrian Oprescu worked in the Territorial Labor Inspectorate Argeș, being even head of the institution in 2016-2019. Previously, he had held the position of prefect of Argeș county, in 2014-2016.
In April 2019 he was appointed head of the Labor Inspection, and on October 30, 2019 he was appointed by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, in the last days of mandate after his government had been dismissed by censorship motion, in the position of Secretary General in Anes, also by detachment.
Subsequently, he was reconfirmed in office, for six-month periods, by the premiers who succeeded themselves at the Victoria Palace: Florin Cîțu, Nicolae Ciuca and Marcel Ciolacu. The last of them was signed by Ciolac on October 16, 2024.
Motion against Simona Bucura passed the Senate
The new reconfirmation comes on the day the Senate adopted the simple gold signed motion, SOS Romania and can against the PSD Minister of Labor, Simona Bucura Oprescu. The motion passed with 61 votes “for” and 59 votes “against”. The signatories of the motion have argued their approach by freezing pensions from the beginning of this year and deepening inequities in society.

At the beginning of the debates, the Minister of Labor Simona Bucura Oprescu said that the motion is based on false and untruth data.
“The initiation of the opposition to submit a motion (…) is an important and necessary democratic exercise. (…) but I cannot agree that this opposition approach will be built on false data, half -truths or on specially tailored omissions to distort reality and to misinform people!”
