The head of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy announced the pilot of shorter working time during the debate “short working time – this is happening!” “It is high time to shorten the working time of Polish and Poles, of course while maintaining the same level of salaries,” said Dziemianowicz -Bąk.

The change is preceded by a voluntary pilot for various employers. “It will be the first pilot of short working time in our part of Europe,” she noted. It is to be directed, among others to enterprises, local government units, foundations and trade unions. The basic condition for participating in the program will be guaranteed the same remuneration to employees. Various models of shortening working time will be tested, e.g. reduction of working hours on certain days or reduction of working days per week.

In the first year, the pilot will be allocated PLN 10 million from the Labor Fund.

The decision to implement the Dziemianowicz-Bąk program was justified by the current analyzes carried out by the Labor Ministry, which shows, among others, that shorter than eight-hour working time translates into a better health condition of employees, less risk of burnout, limiting sickness absence and rarer errors at work. “The shortened working time does not negatively affect the financial results of enterprises,” the minister noted.

She emphasized that shortening the working time is a condition desired by Poles, but only while maintaining the same salary. She noted that currently over 60 percent. respondents declare support for such a change. (PAP)
