Alexandra Andrei Gogoriță (34 years old), former member of the Romanian women's national handball team, announced her retirement, putting an end to her career after 20 years on the semicircle.

She made the announcement on her personal Facebook page, where she announced that from now on she will prepare for the most important “match”, that of being a mother.

The last team he played for was SCM Gloria Buzău, formation that withdrew from the championship at the beginning of 2025. Throughout his career he also wore the shirt of Rulmentul Brașov, SCM Craiova, HCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, HC Alba Sebeș, CSM Slatina and CSM Galați.

She also collected 9 games in the senior national team of Romania, where she managed to score 8 times.

“After 20 years spent on the handball court, the time has come to put an end to this wonderful chapter in my life. It was an honor to play in the National League and, above all, an immense pride to wear the shirt of the Romanian national team and represent my country.

​Handball has given me everything: emotions, lifelong friendships and valuable lessons. Now, however, I am preparing for the most important and beautiful 'match' of my life: that of being a mother. Although my heart will always remain close to the semicircle, it's time to dedicate myself to my family,” wrote Alexandra Andrei on Facebook at the beginning of this year.

Over time, she won a silver medal, in 2016, at the World University Championship, becoming world champion in all age categories in juniors, when she also won the title of the best inter left. At the beginning of his career, he won a gold medal, in 2009, in Junior I, another gold in 2008, in Junior II and a gold (2006), respectively a silver (2007) in Junior III.

In the 2015-2016 season, together with SCM Craiova, she was the third best scorer in the domestic championship, with 98 goals, and then she won the silver medal, in 2017, in the Romanian Cup, alongside the team from Olte, the team for which she performed the most. He left Bănie before the team won the EHF Cup in May 2018, and returned to the group from the south of the country in 2020, where he played until 2023, when he left for CSM Galati.
