Several members of the Pro-Autostrada Civic Associations in Iași protested on Saturday on the banks of the Prut River during the launch event at the Ungheni Bridge. The protesters demanded the emergency start of the works on the Ungheni-Iași-Moțca sector in the A8 highway.
The protesters displayed banners with messages such as: “Over Prut, over the Carpathians, where are the money for the brothers? “,” We tie the Iasi with the Easter, if you do not steal all the money! ” And “A8 is a tragedy, Grindeanu's comedy”The action was organized by representatives of the movement for the development of Moldova and the association together for A8.
In recent days the representatives of the Civil Society of Iasi have accused the authorities of trying “To anesthetize the reason of Moldovans” by organizing a festive event dedicated to starting the works at the bridge over Prut.

“How the Government is not going to start the work in A8 in the coming years, what our elect? They have identified some ends of communal and county roads and will find them in a national road. That, in order not to leave those who will pass the road in the highway over the Prut in the field”, Said George Țurcănașu, a member of the Movement for the Development of Moldova.
On the other hand, the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, present at the event, said that the bridge over Prut from Ungheni will be completed in the highway in the autumn of next year. Grindeanu acknowledged the pressure exerted by the citizens of Iași for the construction of the A8 highway, which would link Moldova to the rest of Europe.
“There are people from Iasi and from the counties of Moldova, who make a pressure, in the good sense of the word, at the Ministry of Transport, to complete A8, which is not only to Paşcani in Iasi county, but it is important to pass the Carpathians. We have four more bridges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova for which feasibility studies are now. The year will be in execution”, Said Sorin Grindeanu.
The event took place in the area of Zagarancecea, in the Republic of Moldova, and brought together hundreds of people, including officials from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The bridge from Ungheni is part of the route of the A8 Ungheni-Iași-Târgu Mureș highway and is scheduled to be completed in 18 months, according to the Minister Grindeanu.
