Dozens of patients reach emergencies every year due to tick sting. The ticks can be found both in the garden of the house, as well as in parks, sports fields, grass or lawn, on orchard or in the forest. They also live on pets, such as dogs and cats.

Doctors recommend that we be careful when we go to areas with greenery, especially in periods of rains and high temperatures, because we can be stung by ticks. The tick bite is very dangerous.

“A tick can send you directly to neurology. Be careful about any unusual symptom that appeared in the skin and not only, especially after you have been in areas with abundant vegetation or in contact with animals. You need a medical evaluation,” warns the doctor Tudor Ciuhodaru.

The doctor also comes a series of tips on what we need to do in the case of tick bites.

1. We are facing infections that no longer have a classic profile. A patient can reach the dermatologist with a trivial injury and, in a few days, reach intensive care.

2. Without treatment the infection can progress towards facial paralysis, heart disorders and chronic joint disorders.

3. Always examine children on return from playgrounds!

4.. The appearance of any symptom after bite requires rapid medical evaluation.

When we have to go to the hospital

1. The tick should be extracted by the most urgent surgery.

2. The extraction is made preferable to specialized personnel.

3. Do not tighten the tick that bite between your fingers so as not to pump from its intestinal contents with microbes in your blood.

4. If you have tried to remove the tick with the tweezers and her head has broken and remained in the skin, presentation to the doctor and surgical extraction is an emergency for preventing infection and complications.

5. The prevention of boreliosis involves the rapid extraction of the tick and the administration of antibiotics.

6. The medication is often given at home for a period of up to 10-14 days.

7. Consult a doctor, especially if changes in the bite or various symptoms of the so-called “summer flu” appear, accompanied by muscle pain, sweating or clogged nose.
