The Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant switches to the anode mass using an oil pitch.
Throughout the world, anodes in electrolysis traditionally use coal pike, the use of oil pitch on an industrial scale, significantly reducing the release of harmful substances, was previously considered impossible. The new technology almost eliminates the release of benzapirene, which reduces emissions into the environment in the production of aluminum.
For several years, Rusal invested about 100 million rubles in scientific research and the development of environmentally friendly pitch. In the course of the work, the technological processes of Russian refineries working on oil from various regions of Russia were studied, the optimal oil and optimal processor was determined.
The company plans to replicate the positive experience of the Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant for the use of ecological pitch to other aluminum enterprises.
