FRF has implemented a new project “which offers” Top Football Academies “and who are the first teams involved

The Romanian Football Federation has launched the Top Football Academies project, dedicated to the elite formation of young Romanian players. The first partnerships have already been signed with the University of Cluj, FC Bacău and Craiova University, and other academies will be joined soon.

The project is addressed to the players from the best academies in the country and has the vision of creating an optimal learning space on the individual development of the juniors for 365 days/year by offering a complex football and school support into top players.

According to FRF, “This project is carried out in partnership with football academies, high schools with sports program and universities in the respective cities for a complete integration of young sportsmen”and “high schools will ensure the students' schooling according to a special program and the implementation of a theoretical sports training course.”

Moreover, “universities will have internship opportunities for current students, but also to recruit new students a few years before, as well as connecting various research programs with a unique sports performance project. FRF ensures project management, continuous and specific training, materials and sports equipment.”

What does Top Football Academies offer

  • Individual development plan and personal action plan for each player
  • 4 additional workouts per week, complementary to those in the club;
  • Over 250 hours of additional annual training
  • Access to a constant assessment as an essential part in the players' formation process
  • Continuous and specific education of the technical staff
  • obtaining a diploma of sports instructor + UEFA C license
  • the opportunity of an educational course for a double career

“Top Football Academies is an innovative project through which we will transform the top academies in Romania into true centers of excellence by exponentially improving the formation of elite juniors to reach their maximum potential. The first generation to start in this project is 2010, continuing in the coming years and with the other smaller generations”, Said Răzvan Burleanu, president of the Romanian Football Federation.

Clubs represent for many children the third educational environment after family and school. Therefore, it is important that they be a safe and developed environment. Trained clubs put the player in the center of attention. These clubs create a safe and stimulating environment in which players are encouraged to develop and reach their maximum potential
