Norwegian fans will be able to consume alcoholic beverages in bars during and even after the evening and night matches of the FIFA World Cup which will take place in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

According to the law, the sale of alcohol in public places in the country is prohibited after 3 am. However, the Parliament liberalized the sale of drinks on Thursday, May 21, allowing it during the World Cup in the locations that broadcast the matches of the final tournament. However, this permission only refers to the sale of beer and wine, not including spirits, according to sportal.bg.

In Norway it will be possible to consume alcohol at night during the World Cup

Oslo police warned, however, that this liberalization will not have a positive impact, especially as it is a busy time of year in general. A month ago, when this variant was first discussed, the proposal sparked controversial reactions among residents.

Current Norwegian regulations are among the strictest in Europe. Alcohol with a concentration of more than 4.7 percent can be bought in shops until 6:00 p.m., the weakest until 8:00 p.m., and in restaurants and bars it is served until 3 a.m. at the latest.

But Oslo's so-called football pubs will be able to apply for permission to continue selling alcohol once the law was approved in the middle of this week.

The Norwegian national team, which returns to the World Championship after 28 years, will debut in the tournament with a match against Iraq. The match will take place on June 17 in Boston at midnight Norwegian time.

Six days later, at two o'clock in the morning, Norway will play at the stadium in New Jersey against Senegal. The third duel in the group stage, against France, is scheduled for June 26 at 21:00 in Kansas City.
