US President Donald Trump will withdraw from peace conversations between Russia and Ukraine in a few weeks – British military analyst Michael Clarke said in an interview with Sky News. In his opinion, roads between the USA and Europe may occur during the NATO summit in the Netherlands in June this year.

According to the expert, Trump is under high pressure from the conclusion of a peace agreement during the first 100 days of office in the White House, i.e. until April 30. “I think that the matter (agreement) can be postponed for later, and the US president will focus on other issues,” said Clarke in an interview given on Wednesday of the British station.
As the purpose of the American policy, the interlocutor indicated re -developing relations with Russia and thus discouraging Moscow from deepening relationships with Beijing. “Trump does not care about what will happen to Ukraine. He wants to get rid of this problem, (…) what suits Putin. Now the US president offers him (Putin) a chance to return to the world (politics) as one of the three great dictators. (They are) Trump, Putin and Xi Jinping,” said Clarke.
“Putin certainly does not want to end the fighting now. (…) He knows that Trump loses his patience and interest in (war), so he wants to keep the US president in uncertainty. In the event of a conversation about the suspension of weapons, Putin blames someone else” – predicts the analyst. He noted that the Russian leader should be taken seriously in the context of his ambition “to recreate as much as possible of the former Soviet Empire in Eastern and Central Europe”.
“The West does not need Ukraine,” Clarke stressed firmly. “The West feels responsible for Ukraine, because, like most post -Soviet states, Ukraine was leaning to the West and wanted to join the family of free market, liberal democracy. But Ukraine is absolutely unnecessary to us” – admitted Sky News interlocutor.
He noticed that Kiev's accession to the EU would actually create many problems, taking into account, among others The size of the local agricultural production. It would be similar if Ukraine joined NATO, which would lead to the fact that “an alliance would become disgusted and threatened with organizational chaos.”
The analyst assessed that during the war in Ukraine nothing extraordinary happened, which would increase the risk of a nuclear conflict outbreak. Asked whether Russian invasion would occur if Ukraine had nuclear weapons, Clarke replied that he doubted such a scenario. (PAP)
