Analist of US military intelligence services, sentenced to seven years in prison in favor of China

An analyst of military intelligence services in the United States was sentenced on Wednesday, April 23, to seven years in prison to disclose confidential information to China, the US Department (DOJ) announced.

Korbein Schultz, arrested in March 2024 at a US military base, pleaded guilty in August to provide documents classified to a person with well -known links, AFP notes, quoted by Agerpres.
Among the information transmitted was a document regarding the lessons learned by the American army in the Ukraine conflict, applicable in the event of a Taiwan – territory that China considers its own province and has not excluded the invasion.
Korbein Schultz also delivered information about China's military tactics, US joint military exercises with Philippines and South Korea, as well as technical armament data, including HH-60 helicopter and F-22 fighter plane.
In total, the analyst would have received $ 42,000 for at least 92 secret documents provided between May 2022 and March 2024.
“The Department of Justice remains vigilant to China's attempts to infiltrate our army and will act firmly against those who betray military secrets,” said prosecutor General Pam Bondi.
FBI chief Kash Patel sent a warning: “This conviction is a warning to those who betray our country: you will pay a high price.”
