Domański in Fox: You can't trust Putin because he cheated many times

In Poland, we know that Putin cannot be trusted – said the Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański on Tuesday in an interview with Fox Business television. He stated that Poland was in favor of negotiations, but not above the head of Ukraine.

“It is clear that what we need, what we want is a long, fair peace. And of course we support every peace conversation. But in Poland we do not trust Putin. We know that you can simply not trust Putin, because he cheated many times” – said the minister when asked during an interview at Fox Business about a comment about the upcoming conversations in London.

Domański said that negotiations are necessary, but he added that Ukraine must be at the table.

“This is clear because it is clear to us. Peace in Ukraine is necessary for global stability, as well as a global economy,” said Domański.

The minister, who is in Washington in connection with the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, also referred to trade negotiations between the US and the European Union. He noted that the European Commission is conducting talks on this subject. He added, however, that the Union wants any agreement to be fair and fair. Although he expressed the hope that he was getting closer to the conclusion of the contract, he assessed that it would not happen this week.

Domański also talked about the need to increase defense expenditure by Europe. He emphasized that Poland is a leader in this matter and encourages other countries to go in this direction.

“It is very, very important to realize that now it's time for Europe to take more responsibility for its security (…) We understand that some countries have fiscal barriers, that budgets are limited, but now we are in a situation where we simply have to increase defense expenses” – he emphasized.
