On April 22, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with the China Ambassador Shengkun. During the meeting, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jewhen Perebyinis emphasized that China's participation in the war against Ukraine and the help of Chinese companies for the Russian military sector arouse deep concern and undermine the partner relations between countries.
– Evidence of these claims was given to the Chinese side by Ukrainian special services – you can read in a statement of the Ukrainian ministry.
Perebyinis called China to take action to stop any support of Russian aggression against Ukraine – they have previously declared that they did not help Russia in the war. He also expressed the hope that in the future Beijing would refrain from taking steps that could harm the relations between them and Kiev.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China responded to the meeting of a Chinese official with a Ukrainian diplomat. During the press conference, the journalist asked the spokesman for the Chinese ministry what information the ambassador gave to the Ukrainian equivalent.
– We explained the position of China on important issues. China definitely opposite unjustified accusations and political manipulations – said Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the ministry.
Chinese fighting on the side of Russia
On April 22, Wołodymyr Zelanski stated that he had asked the Foreign Intelligence Service to provide Chinese to the Chinese relevant information on the participation of China citizens in the war on the Russian side. He added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha also provides relevant information of the Embassy in Beijing.
“I asked the security service separately to provide the Chinese information about Chinese citizens working in Russia at the Drone Factory,” said the president.
He added that, according to the information that Ukraine has, Russia came to an agreement with these citizens without the knowledge of Chinese leadership and stolen the appropriate technology for the production of drones.
– I think that for Beijing it will be important that he see how his partners cooperate with them [z chińskimi obywatelami] – added Zełenski.
On April 8, the Ukrainian troops captured two China citizens who fought on the side of the Russian army in the Donetsk region. Zelanski ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs to contact China, and the United States expressed concern. A day later, the President of Ukraine stated that Ukrainian intelligence has information about at least 155 Chinese citizens participating in war on Russia.
On April 10, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that he knew nothing about this. Five days later, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministries of Foreign Lines said that the Chinese government is planning to examine and assess the actions of their citizens who were taken prisoner in Ukraine.
