“The best Star Wars series” returns for one last season

The TV series “Andor”, often described by critics as “the best series 'Star Wars', returns on Wednesday for a last season, AFP reports on Sunday, taken over by Agerpres.
Launched on Disney+ in 2022, this super -production cost over $ 645 million, for its two seasons, according to American Forbes magazine.
The series, inspired by history books about wars and revolutions, according to its creator, Tony Gilroy, presents the beginnings of the rebellion against the Galactic Empire, over the few years that preceded the action in the movie “Rogue One” (2016), watching the story of one of its protagonists, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna).
In the feature film, in which a rebellious command is engaged in a suicide mission to steal the plans for the star star, “we have characters who sacrifice everything for a cause,” AFP Diego Luna told AFP. The Spin-off series shows “how someone gets at that point,” he summarized.
Andor series had been initially designed to have five seasons
Far from focusing on his homonymous hero, “Andor” explores the dark motivations and sides of both camps, following both the architect of the ongoing rebellion, played by Stellan Skarsgard and the acolytes of the Empire.
The series, initially provided with five seasons, was recalibrated during the filming of the first part, according to its creator, Tony Gilroy, author of the “Jason Bourne” spy noise, as well as the “Rogue One” scenario.
When signing the project, “I had no idea about the necessary amount of work (…); it was physically impossible,” he told AFP during a visit to Paris.
As a result, the second lot of 12 episodes, covers a period of four years until “Rogue One” and proves to be “much more intense, more complex” than the first, gave Diego Luna insurance.
Disney, which has released a series of films and series from the “Star Wars” universe, with different degrees of success, from the purchase of Lucasfilm, in 2012, relies intensely on this saga to attract subscribers to its platform.
Tony Gilroy: For 40 years I have read history and war books, about revolts and revolutions
His biggest success for the small screen, from the same universe, “The Mandalorian”, will have a launch in cinemas in May 2026, with the title “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. However, in the opinion of many critics, “Andor”, which is darker, more political and realistic, stands out.
In order to describe the birth of a revolution and its impact on “ordinary people”, Tony Gilroy, a self -proclaimed “self -taught”, was inspired by history books.
“I grew up with a big library and as soon as I was interested in a topic,” said the screenwriter, the son of Frank D. Gilroy, playwright, screenwriter and famous American producer.
“For 40 years I have read history and war books, about revolutions and revolutions” Russian, French, English, Haitian, Romanian and even Mexican.
Specifically, the second season focuses on the theme of propaganda, through the tragic fate of the people on a planet called Ghorman, for which we had to “imagine a whole civilization”, with its economy, language, culture, wardrobe and aesthetics.
Several French actors, including Thierry Godard – “Engrenages” (“Spiral”), “a Village Français” (“A French Village”) – were asked to form this new “community” with an invented language.
