The actor Alexandru Georgescu, known for the representations in “D'Arnavalului”, “the name of the rose”, “Tartuffe” or “An ancient trilogy – Medeea”, died on Saturday, at the age of 76. His death was confirmed, in a message on Facebook, by the National Theater “Il Caragiale” in Bucharest, which he worked on.
The Bucharest National Theater “announces with deep sadness the passing of actor Alexandru Georgescu. He left the scene of life on Saturday, the day between death and resurrection, a moment of compassion between darkness and light, between pain and hope”, TNB representatives said.
Alexandru Georgescu graduated the Institute of Theater and Cinematographic Art and debuted at TNB more than 50 years ago, where he played in numerous shows.
