“The war resolved 13 million people, including 8.6 million internal displaced persons and 3.8 million refugees,” said Abdourahouf Gnon -Konde, director of the African office of the High United Nations Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The war, which broke out on April 15, 2023 between Sudan's army and the rebellious forces of rapid support (RSF), consumed tens of thousands of victims, drove millions of Sudanians in hunger and divided the country into the territories ruled by warlords.

In the western part of the country, Darfur, RSF started another offensive last week. Its goal is Al -Faszir – the last large city, which is still under the control of the Sudan army. The attack on this city was a reaction to the recent conquest by the army of Khartoum and the displacement of RSF forces from it. The impact began on Thursday and lasted until Sunday morning. According to UN data, over 400 people were killed in these several days of fighting.

On Sunday, RSF won Zamezam, 15 km from Al-Faszir, a refugee camp. Thousands of terrified people, regardless of the fighting, escaped from him to Al -Faszir – the International Migration Organization said on Monday. According to Abbas Yousif Adam, the Northern Darfur Humanitarian Humanitarian Assistance Commissioner, the RSF attack on Zamzam caused a resettlement of 70,000. families.

On Tuesday, representatives of about 20 countries will meet in London to try to solve the crisis in Sudan. (PAP)
