Romania and the Republic of Moldova do not participate in Eurovision 2025
Romania will not participate in this year's edition of the Eurovision competition. The president-general director of the Romanian Television, Dan Turturică, said that our country will return to the competition when “the relationship between TVR and the music producers in Romania will be reset”, according to Pro FM.
“The decision not to participate in Eurovision was taken in the Board of Directors. The first years of my mandate militated to continue participating in this project. Unfortunately, the arguments against them have become more and more numerous and finally the decision was that at least, for the moment, to not participate. The Romanian music producers will be reset. said Dan Turturică, quoted by News.ro.
Last year, public television did not organize national selection for financial reasons. In 2023, our country did not qualify in the Eurovision final.
The Republic of Moldova announced at the beginning of the year that it is withdrawn from Eurovision 2025 as a result of “economic, administrative and artistic challenges”.
“The decision was not an easy one, but necessary in the current context. This year's national selection highlighted certain challenges, including a decrease in the interest of the public and the general quality of the pieces and artistic benefits. This fact has generated a negative perception among the specialists and the public, emphasizing the need for a substantial reform,” Durnescu.
