The ministry confirmed in response to PAP's question that the General Director of Environmental Protection (GDOŚ) on April 11, 2025, he submitted a complaint to the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw against the decision of GDOŚ of 16 January 2025.

“The transfer of a complaint to the court is a standard procedure and results from the provisions of the Act of 30 August 2002 – Law on proceedings before administrative courts. What's more, the transfer of a complaint to the court does not suspend the execution of the contested decision or suspends the possibility of the investor's investment process continuing the possibility of continuing the investment process by the investor” – emphasized MKIŚ.

In January, the General Director of Environmental Protection annulled some of the environmental decision for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland in the area of Choczewa from 2023, and the remaining part upheld it. MKIŚ emphasized that it opens the way to obtaining subsequent permits for EJ.

In the original decision, GDOŚ decided that the investment would not significantly affect the Natura 2000 areas, it would not worsen the state of natural habitats, habitats of plant and animal species, and would not worsen the integrity of Natura 2000 areas or their connections with other areas. In addition, it was indicated that the project would not significantly affect underground and surface waters, including the Baltic Sea waters.

The design of the first nuclear power plant in Poland is implemented by 100 percent belonging to the State Treasury Polskie Power Plant (PEJ). As a contractor and partner for the first power plant, the previous government indicated the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium.

The first power plant in the American AP1000 technology is to be built in the Lociatowo-Kopalino location in Pomerania.

According to the updated schedule, the first block of nuclear power plant in Pomerania is to provide electricity to the national power system in 2036.

Obtaining a permit for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the Lubiatowo-Kopalino commune and the start of construction works is planned in 2028 (PAP Biznes)
