Employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory monitor the situation with fires with the help of satellites.

The main management operates the Department of Reception and Processing of Space Information. There are 9 people on the staff of the unit, an employee who receives information from 6 meteorological satellites is drawn up daily on daily duty. The department is headed by Colonel Viktor Slashchev.

“Observation of thermal anomalies is carried out in automatic and manual mode. The operator manually views certain data and draws a conclusion about the presence or absence of a thermal point (TT). TT is not always a fire. This can be controlled annealing of grass, burning of formal residues, even a torch lit in the northern territories, ”the Ministry of Emergencies said.

Information about TT is transmitted to the management centers in crisis situations deployed in the Siberian and Ural federal districts. At each point, information is collected, the necessary forces and means react. Data on TT in the summer is especially relevant when forest fires are observed, including in remote areas.

In the system of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, there are only 4 divisions of receiving and processing space information. The head is located in Moscow, 3 more in Vologda, Vladivostok and Krasnoyarsk.
