Over 200 dead in the tragedy at the Night Club in the Dominican Republic. The searches ended

The search operations were completed in the capital of the Dominican Republic, after the collapse of the roof of a nightclub in Santo Domingo, a tragedy with the death of at least 221 people, according to local authorities.

The incident took place on Tuesday night, during a concert held by the famous interpreter by Merengue Rubby Perez, at the Jet Set club, a premises frequented by politicians, athletes and other local personalities. The artist is among the victims of the tragedy, informs Reuters.
“Today, the search, rescue and recovery operations of the victims have ended”,, “ announced on Thursday evening, April 10, the Presidency spokesman, Homero Figueroa, in a video message posted on the social platform X. “Now is the time to move on to another phase, to understand and explain what happened.”
The government has formed a team of experts, both local and international, to investigate the exact causes of roof collapse. For now, the exact number of those present at the concert is not known at the time of the tragedy.
The intervention teams managed to save almost 200 people in the building in the first hours after the disaster.
Juan Manuel Mendez, the head of the Center for Emergency Operations, said in tears: “It is the most difficult mission I had in the 20 years since I drive the center of Emergency operations. ”
After the rescue operations are completed, the families of the missing ones left the club area, after days of waiting.
The victims include two former players from Major League Baseball, Octavio Del and Tony Blanco. President Luis Abinade was present on Thursday at Rubby Perez's funerals.
