Google's artificial intelligence division, Deepmind, has resorted to the use of “aggressive” non -competition agreements for some employees in the field of artificial intelligence in the United Kingdom, who forbid them to work for competitors for up to one year, reports Business Insider, quoted by Techruch.
But this practice can make the researchers feel excluded from the rapid pace of AI progress, says Business Insider.
In the US, the Federal Commerce Commission forbade most of the non -competition agreements last year, but this does not apply to the Deepmind headquarters in London.
Last month, the Vice President for Artificial Intelligence from Microsoft, Nando de Freitas, posted on the X about how the employees Deepmind contact him “desperate” because of the challenge of getting rid of the non -competition clauses:
He also had a message for employees. “Above all, do not sign these contracts. No American corporation should have so much power, especially in Europe. It is an abuse of power, which does not justify any purpose.”
Google has not commented this information.
