The USR leaders who went out public and announced their support in the election campaign for Nicușor Dan on Wednesday, from 5:00 pm, an important new step for the party to be naked in Elena Lasconi. They convened an informal political committee, of which parliamentarians, MEPs, presidents of county branches and sector are part. USR leaders expect the members of the Committee to support their decision to withdraw support for Lasconi's candidacy.

The meeting of this evening of the Political Committee is an informal one, because the national office (of which 25 leaders from the USR are part, where most decided to withdraw their support for Elena Lasconi), can convene this legal forum within 15 days. But the USR leaders did not want to wait until then to show that their decision to support Nicușor Dan is supported by the party's elected officials.
“The meeting of the Political Committee will be able to convene at least 15 days before the designated date for the meeting,” according to the USR status.
The official meeting of the Political Committee, convened only on April 24, will practically and formally validate the decision today in informal meeting the USR members. The leaders of the party in the National Bureau are convinced that tonight the political committee will support their decision, according to hotnews.ro sources.
The decision to convene an informal meeting of the political committee was taken to show that the members of the National Bureau have the party support. It is a purely political support, as neither the National Bureau nor the Political Committee, have the power to decide the party candidate. This can only be done by the USR Congress, but both Elena Lasconi and those in the National Bureau, said they are not going to make such a meeting.

On Friday, from 10:00, a new meeting is expected at the USR, of the National Bureau, in which the details of Nicușor Dan will be decided in the presidential campaign.
