Former Minister of Energy 2014 explains who makes decisions in case of discharge of a river

The institution that makes decisions in the case of the discharge of a river is the National Waters Administration, under the authority of the Ministry of the Environment, and the discharge provisions issued by ANAR are implemented by the branches of the energy companies without having the right to oppose, says Răzvan Nicolescu, Minister of Energy during the time, he was not discharge of a river.

“No energy society makes decisions regarding the watering or discharge of some river, neither the management of the companies nor the Ministry of Energy,” Răzvan Nicolescu, former Minister of Energy, wrote on Facebook, December 2014 in the Ponta Government.

Energy aggregates must be protected from floods, and Romanian waters take care of this. Any cubic meter of factory water is paid by energy companies.

“In the case of the Danube there is also an international operating convention to be applied, for each river there are floodable areas in case of need.

• I have never been consulted and I have not participated in any decision to discharge any river because they are very technical issues that are not related to the energy field, the Romanian waters being under the authority of the Ministry of the Environment.
• I have never intervened in the operational decisions of any company, even the case of those who were not under judicial/special administration ”, says the former member of the Government.

He stressed that his statements do not have political temptations and does not want to get involved in the electoral debate of this period.
