Almost every second Polish company will suffer on Trump's duties. A disturbing report of the government think-tank

The results of the Pie research present a picture of the fears of Polish entrepreneurs. Until 46 percent companies express concerns about the weakening of the EU economywhich may occur as a result of the introduction of new duties by the USA. Additionally 43 percent is afraid of increasing import costs.

Only 2 percent companies report a direct risk resulting from the export of goods to the American market – stated in the report. Participation is expressed by enterprises from the TSL sector (47 percent) as well as micro- and medium-sized companies. A slightly different perspective is accepted by the trade industry and Large companies that are primarily afraid of weakening the economic situation (55 % and 54 % respectively).
Food and rubber products
In January 2025, Pie conducted an additional survey among exporters. According to the report, in 2024 every fifth Polish export company operated on the American market, of which only 3 percent. considered the US as its main market. They had the largest share in exports Food sector (15 %) and rubber and plastic products (11 %). In the study group large enterprises employing over 250 people dominated – results from the Institute's analysis.

Experts with a higher level of innovation and the use of modern technologies (83 % of companies) stand out on the American market. Pie draws attention to the fact that these companies felt the global economic slowdown in 2024 (74 percent) than the general Polish exporters (68 %).
The exporters to the American market were more likely to use government forms of export support (32 percent) compared to other enterprises (19 %). The common point in the activities of many companies was to strengthen the economic and financial condition-the authors of the study analyze.
According to the report, some companies provide for difficulties related to the development of cooperation with American enterprises. This aspect is indicated by representatives of large enterprises (22 percent) as well as service, commercial and TSL industries. These results show not only the scale of the fears of Polish business, but also a variety of challenges that the US customs policy brings.
