The Ukrainian blows given to Russia in the depths were shaking the power of fire. Major change announced on the battlefield in the last year

Ukrainian attacks with a long-range weapon (drone mainly) on ammunition deposits in Russia have reduced the artillery drawing rate of Moscow by almost half, said the chief commander of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Sîrskîi in an interview with LB.Ua.
Through 2024, Ukraine has made several drones attacks, targeting Russian ammunition deposits inside Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories, notes The Kyiv Independent.
According to Sîrskîi, the Russian soldiers used to launch about 40,000 obusses daily to the territory of Ukraine and to the defensive positions of the Ukrainian army, but a series of remote attacks reduced this number to about 23,000.
“We continue to expand in this direction, increasing the number, extent and depth attack capabilities (long-range operations) and we have already exceeded the threshold of 1,700 kilometers. Our teams also increase the unanswered component” of the army, said Sîrskîi, referring to the units of drone operators.
Since then, Russia's firing rate has grown slightly, now between 27,000 and 28,000 obusions a day, the general said.
The general attributed this to possible deliveries of howitzers from Moscow allies, such as North Korea or Iran, or the increase of Russian production.
The ammunition shortage has strongly affected Ukraine during the Russian invasion. The EU failed to respect its promise to produce 1 million artillery projectiles between March 2023 and 2024, while Washington political disputes led to a severe delay in the $ 61 billion.
At the end of December, Sky News reported, citing Western officials whose identity did not reveal it, that the advantage of the Russian artillery towards the artillery of Kiev decreased to 1.5 obusions for each Ukrainian projectile.
Even though Ukraine reduces the difference in ammunition, Russian forces continue to put pressure on eastern Ukraine, by launching a new offensive in the regions of Kharkov and Sumî.
The new Russian offensive
The Russian army has started an offensive in the Sumî and Kharkov regions of northeastern Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian army also announced on Wednesday, while Russia has confirmed massive attacks on Ukrainian positions in the two regions, the international press agencies write, according to Agerpres.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski had previously stated that Russia was preparing an offensive in the Sumî and Kharkov regions.
“I can say that the president was clearly right and that the offensive really started,” said General Sîrskîi in Wednesday's interview.
“For several days, for almost a week, we have noticed almost a doubling of the number of enemy attacks in all the main directions” of the front, explained the commander of the Ukrainian army.
According to him, the objective of Russia is-in addition to the complete occupation of the eastern regions Donetk and Luhansk and the continuation of the east and south-east in the regions of Zaporojie and Herson-to create on the Ukrainian territory a buffer area along the northeastern border of Ukraine, in the regions of Kharkov, Sumî and Cernigău.
In fact, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke several times public about this objective, to prevent new Ukrainian incursions on the Russian territory, as was the one launched last year by surprise in the Russian Kursk region, where with great efforts, the Russian troops managed to recover most of the territory falling under the Ukraine, and the Little Trojans.
Russia confirmed on Wednesday massive attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian army in the area of eight localities in Sumî, including Krasnopilia and Ugroidi, located a few kilometers from the border, as well as in the area of four localities in Kharkov, including the homonymous capital of this province.
According to General Sîrski, the mobilization target of the Ukrainian army is about 30,000 new soldiers per month, while he claims that the Russian army brings between 8,000 and 9,000 new soldiers on the front.
According to Ukrainian official data, the number of Ukrainian army is constant, at almost 900,000 military. In 2023 the Russian army had about 700,000 soldiers on the Ukrainian front, according to a then statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The war launched by Russia through the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has the characteristics of a bloody wear conflict, in which both camps undergo great human losses difficult to replace.
While Russia is still trying to limit itself to volunteering, Ukraine has adopted strict mobilization measures that have led to numerous escape attempts in the country, corruption and forced recruitment actions in which the recruitment officers also resort to brutal methods.
