“How should the appearance of the national currency change in order to“ talk ”not about the past, but about the present and future? What meanings should the Ukrainian hryvnias about the values of our state and about the historical events that we are experiencing? The National Bank suggests starting to think about it,” he wrote.
The head of the NBU noted that “already tomorrow” to change the design of banknotes of plans, but the regulator wants to “hear the opinions of Ukrainians.”
“The design of the banknotes that we use was approved in 1992. Of course, it was modernized during this time, the fourth technological generation of hryvnia has currently been in circulation, the protection of money has intensified. But their concept remained unchanged: reproduction on the front side of the portraits of people who made a significant contribution to the development of the Ukrainian state at different historical stages. And on the reverse side – the image of architecture Monuments associated with the activities of these outstanding personalities depicted on the front side.
According to him, the current generation of Ukraine, experiencing tragic events, has the right to “say their word, what symbols they want to see on the next banknote.”
“Starting a conversation about symbols and meanings in the design of banknotes, we do not invent a bicycle. This is a normal evolutionary process for any state. In the European Union for the third time, since the emergence of banknotes of the euro in 2002, they plan to change their design. […] Ukraine must also go this path, […] Find a new aesthetics. Which, by the way, we are already selling in the numismatic products of the National Bank. We have switched from a statement of facts to their philosophical and figurative understanding. Someone is delighted, someone outrages this, causes a discussion, but does not leave indifferent, ”explained magnificent.
The head of the National Bank of Ukraine believes that “the modern hryvnia must resonate everyone who lives now.”
“I will add one thought that sounded during the panel that it unites the entire nation. This is exactly an education, it is definitely our army and it is definitely money. Money is that it exalts and fixes our history, achievements, and today it can also be part of our conscious departure from everything that connects Ukraine with Russia. In the battle of the meanings that we also lead with the Russian Federation, the hryvnia must be our weapons,” He.
