Drivers pay PLN 98 for the technical examination of a passenger car, and this rate has not changed for over 20 years. According to the MotoSzenia.interia.pl website, in 2004, when the rate was set in the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure, the minimum remuneration for work was PLN 824 gross. This was enough for eight periodic tests of a passenger car. At the moment, the minimum wage is 4,000. PLN 666 gross, what translates into the possibility of performing almost 48 technical tests.
Both diagnosticians and owners of the vehicle control station emphasize that during this time the real inflation rate reached 85 percent, but this has no translation into the price of the inspection. Though This condition is beneficial for drivers, it is a disaster for representatives of the vehicle diagnostic industry. For years, thousands of stations had to be liquidated, because the costs of doing business were too high.

The vehicle diagnostics industry must cope in the only available way, i.e. increasing the number of customers. This is – what can be suggested by data – may translate into inadequate quality of service. According to the MotoSzenia.interia.pl website, only 2.14 percent of over 22 million tests in 2024. ended with a negative result.

The Ministry of Infrastructure is to deal with the technical inspection of cars. In December last year, the ministry submitted an application for entering the legislative work of the bill, which introduces changes to the technical research system of vehicles.
The changes include, for example, the introduction of the obligation to take photos of controlled vehiclespossible equipment for diagnosticians with permanent particles and penalties for drivers for being late in conducting a technical review.
In an interview with Interia, the spokesperson of the ministry, Anna Szumańska, explained that the changes are to be comprehensive and take the form of a law. This means the entire legislative process, which takes at least several months.
