In the capital of Taimyr, the day before, traditional sports and contests were held, the most spectacular were reindeer races, in which more than 70 teams participated. Winners and silver winners received certificates for snowmobiles.

“The meaning of reindeer husbandry for the indigenous peoples of Taimyr is difficult to overestimate. This is a key industry, which is the basis of the life of entire generations. Every year, the budget of the Krasnoyarsk Territory to support this sphere provides for more than 280 million rubles. Reindeer herding farms receive compensation for production costs, are provided with inventory values, including expensive ones. Also, reindeer herders monthly receive social payments, the so -called “nomadic”, they are given the opportunity to correct health in sanatoriums for free, ”said Anton Narchuganov.

The events of the Olemir Day in Taimyr will continue for a month: on April 12, the holiday will be held in the village of Tukhard, on April 19 – in Nosk, Novrybnaya and the Sodssko, and the celebrations will end on April 26 in Popigai.
