Three climbers, two brothers and the wife of one of them, were killed by a lightning during a storm in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria, at the end of last week, according to an announcement made by Austrian police, Reuters reports.

According to the police, the three were on the way to the peak of “Mastagspitze”, at an altitude of 2,600 meters, in the area of ​​Flirsch in the Tyrol of Austria. According to the authorities, this is an Austrian 62, his 60 -year -old brother, as well as his wife, of the same age.

Due to a sudden change of time, they decided to return around 12:30, but they did not reach the valley. The relatives alerted the authorities. The police launched a search operation, in which a helicopter was involved. Finally, the three were found lifeless, near a marked path – at about 2,200 meters altitude.

According to the local press, the doctor who was part of the rescue team could only find the death of the three mountaineers, all three very experienced. The preliminary report of the forensic doctor states that all three died after they were hit by lightning.

The coordinator of the search and rescue mission said that the operation began around 7 pm and that the relatives of the mountains were able to provide the rescuers with exact details about the route they started. The rescue action was difficult for heavy and foggy rains.
