The leader of the extreme French right Marine Le Pen, sentenced to five years of ineligibility with immediate application, for hijacking public funds, said he will challenge this decision by “democratic” and “peaceful”, invoking the fight for civil rights carried in the US by pastor Martin Luther King Jr., informs AFP on Sunday.

“Our struggle (…) will be (…) a peaceful struggle, a democratic struggle. We will take an example from Martin Luther King who defended civil rights”, because “the civil rights of the French are the ones in discussed in France,” the deputies said by video conference for the members of the Italian anti -immigration Liga of Matteo Salvini.

The entourage of Marina Le Pen has already referred to Martin Luther King in the last days, assassinated on April 4, 1968 by a white segregationist on the balcony of a motel in Memphis, in southern US, where he had come to hold a garbage strike.

Also, the National Assembly Party (National Rassemblement, RN) announced that it will multiply its legal appeal and peaceful manifestations, even if it challenges the legitimacy of this conviction in the first court in the file on European parliamentary assistants and firmly criticizes the magistrates.

“We will fight, we will never give in to this violence, we will never give in to this violence to democracy. We will use all possible means of law to compete in these presidential elections and to prevent this attempt to end the democratic functioning of France,” Marine Le Pen.

“Thank you, Marine, we do not want to kidnap more time,” said Matteo Salvini, “today it will be an important day for you, for France,” he said.

The leader of the extreme French right and several party colleagues were sentenced Monday in the first instance in a fundraising file, after using the European Parliament's money to pay the salaries of party members in France. Le Pen received four years in prison, two of them with suspension and two under electronic supervision. The decision is not final, but the judge also imposed a prohibition to hold public positions for a period of five years, with immediate execution, which most likely compromises them for the presidential elections of 2027.

The far French right organizes in Paris on Sunday, starting with the local hours, in front of Hôtel des Invalides, a rally in support of his Marine Le Pen leader.

From Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini or former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev, several officials reacted to show their support for Le Pen and to criticize the French justice decision.

Among them was Donald Trump, who compared Marine Le Pen's conviction with his own judicial cases in the United States, stating that the Five -year ineligibility of the RN chief is “a very serious matter.”
