The Bulgarian Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, has announced that he is working on creating a tourist police in Bulgaria, Agerpres informs by citing Novinite.
The Minister of Tourism met in Burgas with local and primary officials to analyze the preparations for the 2025 summer season along the southern coast of the Black Sea. The official beginning of the tourist season will be celebrated with a beach party in Pomorie, on May 31.
Borshosh stressed that following the discussions with representatives of the municipalities and the tourism industry it was found that it is the right time for setting up a police dedicated to tourism. He explained that the various control functions, which are now dispersed in several agencies, are often inefficiently coordinated, leading to insufficient delays or responses.
In order to solve the difficulties, the new tourist police will bring together several bodies, including the National Agency for Fiscal Administration, the Economic Police and the Labor Inspectorate, to provide more efficient local and national operations within the Ministry of Tourism.
The project to create a tourist police will be presented by the end of the year, Borshosh announced.
He expressed his fears regarding the current state of transport infrastructure, especially Burgas airport. While the cities on the southern coast of the Black Sea are well prepared for the tourist season, the Burgas airport connectivity has not made significant progress in the flow and the number of tourists. Discussions with the airport operator Fraport are planned, a detailed report on the 2025 plans will be published, said the Bulgarian Minister of Tourism.
